The annual Teen of the Week scholarship program is sponsored by Paducah Bank. Every week throughout the school year, the Paducah Sun will select one high school senior as, “Teen of the Week.” The newspaper will print a feature story and photo that covers the student’s accomplishments, plans after high school and any career aspirations. At the end of the year, one of the weekly winners will be named “Teen of the Year” and the overall winner receives a $5,000 scholarship. A student will also be chosen as recipient of an Inspiration Award and a $1,000 scholarship.
Academic achievement is important, but the recognition also considers a student’s involvement in sports, student government, band, choir, club and organizational leadership and more in the community. Any work outside of school, such as employment, family responsibilities and many other factors may be considered.
