Kim Phelps Memorial Scholarship

The Kim Phelps Memorial Scholarship was founded and established in 2019. This scholarship will award one $500 scholarship to a graduate of Marshall County High School with dreams of working in the education sector. Kim spent her teaching career at Marshall County High School as a Spanish Teacher. Love was her anthem, and she sang it loud. She was kind - kind to everyone she met, no matter who they were or what journey they were on in life. From teaching kids in school to coaching kids in weightlifting to chasing her own dreams both with a barbell and not. She lived a life that was full of kindness and love. Kim always exhibited strength. Even with her cancer diagnosis in 2012, that didn't stop her from doing what she loved. She continued her passion for teaching while undergoing treatments and joined CrossFit in 2013 to build her strength. The recipient will be a graduating Marshall County High School Senior who has overcome their personal adversity and demonstrates: Strength Thoughtfulness and service to others living life, pursuing dreams, and enabling one’s self. The scholarship is to be used for post-secondary education at an accredited nonprofit or public educational institution in pursuit of an education/teaching career. The school may be a two- or four-year college or university.
