Third Place Ministries - Susan and David Atkinson Scholarship was founded in 2023 as a means by which the people of the United Methodist churches of Marshall County, Kentucky could offer encouragement to the youth of our county to pursue education past high school.
Third Place Ministries began in the 1970’s by Reverend Susan Atkinson and supported by Reverend David Atkinson along many other United Methodists of the area as the Marshall County Cooperative Ministries. Over the years, the locations and the name changed, but the mission remains. Helping people as we are able. It is our hope to reflect the energy and passion for serving the greater good exhibited
by the Atkinson’s. David knew the value of education and its cost. He worked three jobs while he worked to complete his baccalaureate and seminary studies. With God’s help Third Place Ministries is as encouraged today as they were then to be about the work of helping others to achieve and succeed.
This scholarship is for $1000.00 It is our intention to award this scholarship in May of each year, to coincide with graduation ceremonies and award presentations. The scholarship is offered to anyone who has completed or is of the current year’s graduating class. This scholarship is also available to persons who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or technology program.
