SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM GUIDE LINES
Leveled grants of $1,000.00 to $2,000.00 will be awarded to students who are entering as a new college, university or career institution/facility student seeking a degree or certification in a field supporting a better life quality in our community. The career should possibly be a service career or a professional degree in a service field.
The recipient should:
1. Reside in Marshall County, Kentucky – prefer Calvert-Sharpe Area and former Leo members.
2. Will graduate from Marshall County Schools, Christian Fellowship or Titus Christian Prep School, and will not exclude certified home schools.
3. Should be a graduating senior with a Minimum GPA of 2.0 /4.0 (or equivalent) at graduation and have completed at least one community service project.
4. Funds are to be used at a named secondary institution or training institution. Funds are to be sent directly to the institution for deposit on a school card for use in the institution’s bookstore or be distributed by the bursar of the institution. (Address information is required)
5. Should the recipient drop out within the semester the funds are awarded, the total funds are to be returned to the scholarship program.
6. In accordance with our bylaws, an eligible recipient cannot be a dependent of a member of the Lions Club.
Scholarship Award System;
7. Scholarship recipients are to be chosen by a selection committee consisting of three members based on the following criteria: a member of the Calvert City Lions Club and two members chosen from the community approved by the board of directors of the Calvert City Lions Club with over-site of the Calvert City Lions Club Scholarship Chairman.
The selection committee has the authority to approve or disapprove each application based on its content and references provided by the applicant and choose recipients for the scholarships.
8. The Calvert City Lions Foundation will fund the scholarships awarded by the scholarship committee. Awards shall be made based on the recommendation of the scholarship committee and shall be awarded in the month of May of each year the program is in effect.
9. The application portion of this booklet is due back to your school’s guidance counselor’s office by noon on April 20, 2024. All applications will be collected by the Calvert City Lions Club Scholarship Committee and immediately screened for acceptance and consideration.
10. Notification of scholarship awards will be by mail/email no later than May 1, 2024 and the scholarship certificate shall be distributed at the appropriate graduation event.
