A very rewarding aspect of being a United States Senator is the opportunity to nominate young men and women from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky to attend one of our nation's prestigious military service academies in their pursuit to become a future leader in the armed forces.
To be considered for acceptance to a military service academy, an applicant must obtain a nomination from one nominating source. The competition for congressional nominations is high; therefore, I encourage applicants to request a nomination from their other nominating sources: U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell as well as their respective U.S. Representative. A nomination does not guarantee acceptance into a military service academy. Final acceptance into one of the academies is made by the respective academy.
Applicants who wish to obtain my nomination should visit my website at www.paul.senate.gov, click on Services and then Academy Nominations. The deadline for this year's application is November 15, 2024. Each applicant will receive an acknowledgement once their completed packet is received and reviewed to verify its completion.
Due to the limited number of openings at the service academies and the large pool of applicants, my Academy Board will review all packets to offer recommendations in accordance with each Academy's standards. I will submit my nominations by the designated deadline of January 31, 2025.
Lastly, I would like to cordially invite you to my U.S. Service Academy Information Fair on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Western Kentucky University's Knicely Conference Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. (CST) with the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. CST. Academy Representatives will participate in a Question and Answer session at the end of the program followed by a Meet and Greet. This venue provides students, parents, and school faculty valuable information on our nation's outstanding military service academies and the academy nomination process.
